5 Valentines Day Desserts That Are Sure To Win His Heart

Valentines Day is a time for indulgence and decadence.

They say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. I’m not sure that’s all it takes but certainly for my husband I’m sure it was part of the equation.

My mum’s scones really made an impression on him and in his early 20’s he could put away almost a whole batch by himself. Having just turned 60, he no longer could eat his way through that many scones but he certainly still loves them, especially with strawberry jam and a big dollop of Chantilly Cream.

Valentines Day just wouldn’t pack the same punch without a batch of these easy to make little parcels of delishiousness.

Make your Valentines Day special with one of these romantic desserts:

  1. Scones – Traditional Scones or Lemonade Scones
  2. Easy Strawberry Cheesecake with Chocolate Sauce
  3. Nana’s Pavlova
  4. Bailey’s Chocolate Mousse
  5. Raspberry Macarons with White Chocolate Ganache
Scones

Here I have included two ways to make scones and to be honest they are both as fabulous as each other. It all depends on if you want to get your hands right into it or you prefer to stay clean. Personally, I like getting my hands dirty – for me it’s therapeutic. But sometimes getting scone mixture under your nails ban be a pain.

Traditional Scones

This scone recipe is one my mum, her mum, and probably her mum used and was always a hit. Traditional Scones are buttery and golden and to get the best result should be just thrown together – no over-mixing here or your scones will be tough.

My mum used to mix these quickly with a knife until they were barely mixed and you could still see a bit of flour in the mixture and they always turned out brilliantly

Lemonade Scones

Over the last 10 years or so (and probably a lot longer than that, there have been recipes out there for Lemonade Scones. It’s somewhat of a cheat’s version of Traditional Scones. However, Traditional Scones are very easy to make.

The advantage of Lemonade Scones over your Traditional Scones is that you ca just add all the ingredients and stir – no getting scone mixture under your fingers. It is for this reason that this also makes a perfect recipe for your little ones to ‘help’ you with.

Another reason I sometimes make this recipe is that you can use Diet Lemonade, reducing the sugar content of the scones.

Easy Strawberry Cheesecake with Chocolate Sauce

This is one of those recipes that looks super impressive but is very simple to make with just a few basic ingredients. I’m sure that even my youngest daughter (who says she can’t cook) could make these without any problem at all. The perfect little morsel to make for Valentines Day.

Nana’s Pavlova

There’s nothing more classic that Pavlova and making it for special occasions is almost mandatory. Adding Chantilly Cream and raspberries, turns this classic into something very special and makes the perfect dessert to win him over on Valentines Day.

Bailey’s Chocolate Mousse

I loooooove chocolate mousse and what better way to serve it than with a good dose of Bailey’s Irish Cream. Add in chocolate biscuits, some Chantilly Cream and strawberries and you have a winner come Valentines Day.

It doesn’t get much better than that.

Raspberry Macarons

These Raspberry Macarons (or Macaroons) With White Chocolate Ganache are soft, melt-in-your-mouth french biscuits with delicate little ‘feet’ on the bottom of them. Who can resist anything with white chocolate and raspberries? These are sure to win a few hearts on Valentines Day. Bet you won’t be able to stop at one.
