How To Fold A Fitted Sheet

Fitted sheets are notoriously difficult to fold, so much so that quite often they end up just getting rolled up and shoved in the cupboard. But with a few simple steps, you can master how to fold the perfect fitted sheet.

You will need your sheet and 2 chair backs (or the use of someone’s arms).

Step 1: Locate the short end of the sheet and place this over the backs of the chairs (or the helpful arms) so that the corners of the chairs fit snuggly into the two corners of the sheet and the sheet is stretched out. Smooth out any wrinkles.

Step 2: Take the other two corners of the sheet and fold them up over the chairs, in the same manner. Smooth out any wrinkles.

Step 3: Holding the corners of the sheet carefully take the sheet off the chair and lay it on the ground or on the table, smoothing it into a rectangle shape as you go.

Step 4: Take the top third of the sheet and fold down, smoothing any wrinkles as you go.

Step 5: Take the bottom third of the sheet and fold up, smoothing any wrinkles as you go.

Step 6: Fold in half lengthwise, smoothing any wrinkles as you go.

Step 7: Fold one-third over, then over again, smoothing any wrinkles as you go.

And you’re done! Sorry, I should have ironed the sheet before taking these photos, but who’s got time for that? (the flower is an optional extra, but a nice touch)

How did you go? Let me know in the comments.

Tip: Something I have recently started doing is keeping the sheet set together by folding the fitted sheet, flat sheet and 1 pillow case up and placing it inside the 2nd pillow case. That way you never have to rummage through the linen cupboard for the matching set. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that sooner.
